Resumo
O presente texto analisa a imagem intituladas, Semana Santa Política, publicada em o Don Quixote, jornal ilustrado de Angelo Agostini, onde as páginas centrais da publicação apresentam a paisagem política nacional de 1896, intertextualizada com a paixão de Cristo, significativa passagem do calendário católico. Pela teoria da imagem e pela teoria da arte, o texto coordena conceitos como mimesis, ícone, mito, metáfora, memória, imaginação, para fundear questões temáticas da história da religião cristã, de arte e história, largamente empregada na sátira cotidiana, assim como nos hebdomadários do gênero do século XIX. Na tradução visual agostiniana da presidência da República e seu momento ministerial, dá-se a ver a enorme tensão assimétrica do peso do Estado sobre o governo de Prudente de Morais, e partindo desta proposta, o trabalho apresenta algumas possibilidades de leituras e interpretação, como também, pela conjuntura política contemporânea, são descritos alguns episódios e conflitos da história do Brasil.

Abstract
This article analyzes the image, Holy Week Politics, published in Don Quixote, Angelo Agostini’s illustrated newspaper. The center pages present the national political landscape in 1896 inscribed in the passion of Christ. According to the theory of the image and art, the text coordinates concepts such as mimesis, icon, myth, metaphor, memory, imagination, to anchor some thematic questions from the history of Christianity widely used in satiric images, especially in this weekly paper genre. In the Augustinian visual translation of the presidency of Brazil and the period of his administration, a huge asymmetric tension can be seen in the weight of the state on Prudente de Morais’ govenrnment, Starting from this, this paper presents some possibilities of interpreting moments of great conflict in the history of Brazil.
