Abstract
Alongside the manifest influence and practices of the American and French Revolutions, the political-legal discourse of the Revolution of 1817, and even some concrete manifestations of the movement, point to a strong presence of the traditional pactism on the Iberian Peninsula. We can thus detect both the continuity of the discourse of the Old Regime, including in its use of concepts, and metamorphoses that add to existing expressions new meanings, thus highlighting a mixture of tradition and innovation in the political-legal discourse of the Revolution of 1817.
Key Words: Constitutionalism; Old Regime; Liberalism; Codification; Power.
