Resumo
Em 1870, a Guerra do Paraguai vivia o estágio final das últimas batalhas. Naquele momento, o Estado Imperial iniciou um processo de desmobilização dos combatentes, reenviando-os às suas províncias de origem. O retorno dos batalhões gerou uma série de comemorações com a realização de festas e de eventos cívicos que estavam longe de ser um ideal de reconhecimento. Na verdade, isso teria possibilitado ao governo provincial uma oportunidade para a não efetivação total das promessas contidas no decreto dos Voluntários da Pátria.

Abstract
In 1870, the last battles of the Paraguay War were being fought. At that time, the Imperial State started demobilizing the combatants and sending them back to their home provinces. The welcome of the battalions back home led to a series of celebrations marked by parties and civic events that were far from being an ideal acknowledgement of their performance. In fact, this would have given the provincial government an opportunity to not fully fulfill the promises stated in the decree of the Homeland Volunteers.
