Resumo
Este trabalho é um recorte temático que quer pensar a economia política da arte a partir de um determinado manejo do capital artístico-cultural das imagens instituídas no período joanino bra- sileiro. A constituição e produção dessa econo- mia significaram, naquele momento, mais um suporte técnico e intelectual da celebração da união do velho reino com o novo, desdobrando- -se em atos e datas demarcadoras da vida da Coroa portuguesa na Corte do Rio de Janeiro. D. João precisava pensar o lugar de Portugal no Brasil, reproduzir a ordem dos reinos e o modelo das coroas europeias, para tornar-se a representação de uma monarquia absoluta que acontecia na América.

Abstract
This text is a thematic passage that seeks to think through the political economy of art based on a specific treatment of the artistic-cultural capital of the images instituted during the Bra- zilian Joanine period. The constitution and pro- duction of this economy signified, at that time, an additional technical and intellectual support for the celebration of the union between the old kingdom and the new, unfolding in pivotal acts and dates in the life of the Portuguese crown in the court of Rio de Janeiro. John VI needed to think about the place of Portugal in Brazil, to reproduce the order of the kingdoms and the model of the European crowns, to become the representation of an absolute monarchy that was taking place in America.
